Anusara Inspired™ Classes (Levels One, Two & Three)
Anusara (a-nu-sar-a) means “flowing with Grace.”This school of hatha yoga, founded by John Friend in 1997, is rooted in alignment of the body and “celebration of the heart.” The Universal Principles of Alignment™ of Anusara Yoga® are a set of biomechanical alignment principles for the body which are also taught as metaphors for the pulsations of our lives off the mat. This highly effective therapeutic style of hatha yoga presents yoga as both science and art. Blending attentive detail to the science of biomechanics and the expressive nature of bodily movement, this yoga style affirms the beauty of human experience and the connectedness of all beings. For more information about Anusara Yoga click here.
Gentle & Beginner Hatha Classes
These classes, taught by Alex, are slow paced and deeply relaxing. The postures range from simple to complex, with full permission to do less. The emphasis is on breath and body awareness. We learn to listen to our body in a new way, honour its limitations and learn from it. Even though the approach is gentle, we will stretch and strengthen, and work toward improved flexibility and balance, mental clarity and emotional state of peace.

Yoga for Athletes
This class is for anyone looking to take their yoga practice to a new level or is new to yoga and looking for a challenge. Yoga for Athletes combines demanding muscle resistance vinyasa, endurance poses, detoxifying twists, grounding balance postures, energizing back bends, invigorating inversions, and deep opening postures to release tension. To build internal and external strength, balance, flexibility and integrity; to tests your mind through your body; to attain clarity and integrity, try Yoga for Athletes. (Be prepared to sweat!)

Yin Yang
Yin and Yang practise brings your body and mind into harmony through a beautiful blend of  fiery heat generating postures linked through flow, in preparation for long held cooling passive poses designed to allow gravity to gently and deeply open the layers of the body.  This approach builds strength, stamina, and suppleness leaving you blissfully balanced. Standing postures, forward bends, backward bends, twists and inversions will be explored along with their healing benefits. Principles of Chinese medicine and Yoga Nidra (yoga sleep) will be incorporated to provide insight into both the body and mind, creating a deeply meditative state. Open to all levels.

Prenatal Classes
The prenatal yoga classes offer a safe yet challenging practice to both seasoned yogis and beginners. The class focuses on breath and connection with growing baby, as well as listening to and trusting in the wisdom of the body, challenging changing bodies. Students will find the practice will increase strength and endurance - especially important in terms of labour and delivery (there is lots of reference to labour/delivery and using breath/meditation to encourage a positive experience). Great practice for those experiencing physical challenges throughout pregnancy (sciatica, low back pain etc) and stress/anxiety related to pregnancy! and bringing a baby into the world!

The ‘8 limbed path’ will be introduced and interwoven through the duration of the 7 week session. Asanas (poses), pranayama (breathing), and meditation will form the basis of this class. Standing postures, forward bends, backward bends, twists and inversions will be explored. Students will gain knowledge, wisdom, strength, stamina, suppleness and feel blissfully balanced This class aims to provide students with a tool kit with which to explore their inner canvas and their connection to the outer world; to relieve stress out of mind and body; and to cultivate inner peace. Each class ends with deep relaxation, leaving the students in a rejuvenated and serene state.
